Bajirao Mastani
has everything a commercial fare of merit requires. Romance, grandeur,
scale, glamour, grace and above all, an epic story. It can definitely
become one of the blockbusters of 2015 and
that would encourage more people to invest in period dramas which have
become pretty scant in Bollywood. Naturally, there is heightened
excitement for the film even though it is pitted against Shah Rukh Khan‘s Dilwale.
But it seems India won’t be the only nation which will be responsible
for it’s income but China too! The film that releases in China in March
can go even bigger than Aamir Khan’s PK upon release.
We spoke to our Trade expert Akshaye Rathi, who gave us startling numbers for Bajirao… in
China. “The film is opening in China in March with 6000 screens which
is HUGE! The country has 25000 screens, out of which 6000 will be
allocated to BM. PK had made over 100 cr with just 5000 screens. So, I see no reason why this film can’t. Also, Bajirao Mastani is a very china friendly film with a war in its plot!”
We don’t know about India but China will surely get bamboozled by Bajirao and his passionate love for his Mastani!
