Today we told you how Eros International is going full throttle in the overseas market with 850 screens for Bajirao Mastani which is more than the 800 or more screens that it had taken for its earlier blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan. So,
this Christmas, the fight to own the box office will be tremendous.
Since everyone is looking forward to the outcome of this clash, we
decided to take expert opinion on how the tension is building up. Turns
out, both the films are equally hot, according to our Trade Expert
Akshaye Rathi.
“I can see a Gadar-Lagaan kind of a scenario here
as both the film have a phenomenal buzz around them. They look like huge
hits to me,” exclaims Akshaye. He informed that the booking of screens
for the both the films are still on and he is sure both will get equal
footing everywhere. When asked what are his first day predictions for
both, Akshaye gave us some really inspiring figures. “Bajirao… will earn somewhere between 13-20 cr while Dilwale could be around 25-27 cr. As for opening weekend, Shah Rukh Khan‘s film can easily clock 90-100 cr or more while BM
may be around 65-70 crore which are really great numbers for both the
films”. He is pretty sure that nobody will lose money because of these
films and can be two of the profitable films of this year.
When asked if Eros went for more screens overseas because of Bajirao‘s clash with Dilwale, Rathi says, “I don’t think so. Both the films will get good number screens everywhere anyway and will even work phenomenally.”
It seems this year will end on a positive note!
